Somatics for Movers is a space to be with who you are, collapsing time with who you have been and might be, experiencing, imagining, witnessing.
The heart of this class is a verbally guided somatic movement exploration: an extended, meditative improvisation shaped by felt sense, imagery, and internal cues. Each person moves at their own pace, following their unique range of motion and inner experience. We often draw from developmental movement patterns, both pre-birth and post-birth, exploring the early states, patterns and capacities that continue to live in our bodies.
This class is accessible to adults with or without prior movement training. If you're curious about how we move—and how movement shapes how we feel, think, and relate—this class is for you.

That’s great! I like those things too. There are many other places you can go that focus on those elements of movement, and I’m happy to make recommendations or connections.

Somatics is a field of practice encompassing numerous branches that emphasize the integral connection between mind and body. Included in the field are systems dedicated to experiential learning and sensory exploration, prioritizing internal physical perception and personal experience over external shape, form, or outward observation. Some branches of the somatics family tree include: Alexander Technique, Body-Mind Centering ®, Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement, Kinetic Awareness, and Ideokinesis, and I have some or a lot of experience in all of these modalities. This list is not exhaustive!
While the idea of “somatics” has become popular in therapy settings, and you can find quick tips for somatic attunement all over the internet, I want to stress that my experience in the field comes from many years of time spent in person with distinguished teachers, and, many many many hours alone in the studio and in self study, with myself as my own best teacher.
